One of the best parts of a tea party is what goes with the tea! Usually, special little sandwiches and yummy sweets are served. Tea sandwiches are tiny sandwiches made with very thinly sliced bread, which is cut into special shapes.

First, spread a thin coat of butter, mayonnaise or cream cheese on the bread to keep the sandwiches from getting soggy. Next is the filling. People usually think of cucumber sandwiches when they think of afternoon tea, but you can think of whatever kind of sandwiches you want.

Once the filling is in place, cut the sandwiches. One nice thing about tea sandwiches is you always get to cut off the crusts.

But let's not forget the tea! You have so many flavors to choose from! Have a ball having different ones at different parties!

Opinion

One thing about tea parties that interests me a lot is the tea sandwiches. Yes, the first sandwich that always comes to mind is the cucumber sandwich. They seem to be delicious but I never think to buy a cucumber when at the grocery store!

I think that tuna salad sandwiches would be proper at a tea party.

For something sweet, I would serve "buckeyes" which are peanut butter on the bottom and chocolate icing on top in a pyrex cut in squares.
