More than just cake

I'm currently on maternity leave which means after working full time all my adult life I'm getting out and about a lot more.

This has led to me eating out more which can be bad for the budget and the diet.

But fear no more, there are more and more restaurants and stores selling delicious, filling and healthy foods in shopping centres which also means more options for those of us who are vegetarians. No more hot chips for us! Not that there's anything wrong with hot chips of course, it's just nice to have options.

Walking through Westfield Marion Shopping Centre I stumbled across Let Them Eat, a small but welcoming kiosk style shop with so many choices I didn't know where to start.

After talking to the friendly person behind the counter I bought two kimchi and sweet potato fritters, a vegan macaroni and not cheese slice and a parsnip, sage and marscapone arancini ball.

There were a range of tasty looking salads but I took my stash in a very cute brown paper bag with the items wrapped in brown paper and went home to taste them.

Everything was flavourful, extremely fresh and filling.

All foods sold at Let Them Eat are either vegetarian or vegan and they also sell gluten free products and dairy free products.

Established in 2008, Let Them Eat has recently opened as a pop up shop in Marion and is in the Adelaide Central Markets and also offers catering.

"Let them eat prides itself on using South Australian and Australian produce from those we work with at local farmers markets. The food is free of preservatives and chemicals, is vegetarian and includes many options for vegan's and those with a gluten or dairy intolerance" (Let Them Eat's Facebook page).

So next time you're looking for a healthy, slightly addictive meal or snack or you're looking for someone to cater your next event, head to the Adelaide Central Markets, Westfield Marion or head to their website or Facebook page for more information.

As for the budget, Let Them Eat's products aren't as cheap as the standard take out but the quality is worth it.

Thanks for the tip Samantha. I generally avoid Marion Shopping Centre, but will look out for this place.
