A performance that takes the cake
Though we can't be certain whether or not it was Marie Antoinette who famously first said "Let Them Eat Cake", one thing we do know is that we agree with its sentiment. By we, I mean people who like cake, which is everybody.
One of the more eyebrow-raising performances from this year's Anywhere Theatre Festival program is Let Them Eat Cake, which is being hosted at The Golden Pig cooking school. In case there was any concern, there will be cake included for each and every guest, provided by The Golden Pig Food & Wine School so you know it's going to be good.
The show is the brainchild of Act / React, the improv troupe responsible for the smash hits Speed: The Movie, The Play (2015) and Titanic: The Movie, The Play (2016), both sell-out hits at the Brisbane Powerhouse. This show sees Wade Robinson, Dan Beeston and Natalie Bochenski playing upper-class aristocrats who get mired in court intrigue and scandal.
With performers of this calibre and experience, you can be sure that this is going to be a feast for each and every one of the senses. As if all of that wasn't enough, throw in the fact that Dan Beeston will be playing Pierre, a mime. If you were worried this show wasn't going to be a little bit strange, hopefully, this will alleviate those concerns.
With a limited run as part of the festival, this is sure to be a fantastically fun fanfare, with a certain je ne sais quoi. So don't be the lanterne rouge and embrace the joie de vivre of this soirée post-haste!
