The Lesvos Cultural Club invites you to the party of the year, the annual Lesvos Ouzo Festival!
The Greek island of Lesvos is renowned as the home of the best ouzo in Greece. Drinking ouzo is an art form and a way of life and over 1,500 people come together to celebrate and enjoy ouzo at this annual festival.
This year's event will be held on Sunday the 21st of February 2016 in Bayswater and will transport event-goers to a Lesvian village panigiri, a centuries old summer festival of ouzo, food and music that transcends the everyday.
Held in a family-friendly atmosphere it is the only festival of its kind in Australia. The fun will kick off at 11am. For $15, you can sample ouzo all day and there will lots of traditional Greek specialities on offer to accompany your clear anise-flavoured spirit. During the afternoon you can purchase a mezedes of grilled octopus, calamari, gyros, sardines and classic Greek salad sprinkled with feta.*
For the kids there will be jumping-castles and backgammon competitions, plus live music with the Greek band, Rythmos.
All are welcome to come along and enjoy this vibrant cultural celebration which marks the end of summer.
