Sometimes you just want to get away from the city, hike a trail and take in a view. So this weekend we picked Lesmurdie Falls - about 40 minutes from Fremantle in the Lesmurdie Falls National Park.

Even the drive there is beautiful. Once you hit the hills and start winding your way up, the view starts to spread out before you - bags not being the driver!

We didn't have enough time to walk the big trails, so we elected to head straight to the Falls and soak in the view.

Anyone can get to this point, so it's very family-friendly! And if you want to tackle a hiking trail, there are plenty to choose from.

We took a shorter trail and found ourselves at a small waterfall in a little clearing - the perfect picnic spot!

Make sure you bring water and sturdy shoes for hiking the trails. The short trail to the big Falls has rails to the viewing platforms but also lots of stairs, and the ground is quite rocky.

This is the perfect family day out, romantic date-day, even proposal spot (wink wink). They have picnic tables, toilets, parking, and we saw people of all ages and massive family groups - so come one, come all!

This really is a must-do in Perth, and totally doable as a day-trip, so add this one to your to-do list - you won't regret it!
