Do you hear the people sing?
I will try to keep my enthusiasm for this event under control, but it's suffice to say that I am giddy with excitement about Les Miserables coming to Perth. I am lucky enough to have seen this Les Miserables in the West End and on Broadway, and this Perth production, makes a very happy hat-trick for me indeed.
For the first time in 15 years, the full production of Les Miserables is coming to Perth fresh from its well reviewed run in Melbourne. Whilst Les Miserables has shown great longevity since its debut in London some 30 years ago, it's a fresh look to the production that has many fans eager to 'Hear the People Sing' once again. The production has received a makeover for its tour down under, with new orchestration and a new set design based on the original paintings of Hugo Victor, the 19th century Les Miserables novelist.
The Herald Sun has dubbed this new refreshed Sir Cameron Macintosh production a "musical and theatrical triumph", with the Sydney Morning Herald citing its qualities of "vocal splendour and emotional power, dynamic staging and a propulsive dramatic vision' as reasons to see this great musical.
Long time fans of Les Miserables will be delighted to hear all their favourite songs returning to the stage with a cast led by Simon Gleeson as Jean Valjean and Hayden Tee as Javert. For a stunning musical detailing the compelling story line of love, tragedy, war and triumph, this is one trip to the theatre that you'll not want to miss.
