It’s on again, for the sixty-fifth year, The Leongatha Daffodil Festival and Floral Show. The Leongatha Daffodil Festival and Floral Show is run by
the Leongatha Horticultural Society which was established way back in 1948. Seventy-five years, now that’s an awesome achievement, and it’s no wonder they’ve got this so flawlessly organised. They have plenty in store for you this year.
You will be treated to floral displays and floral art, cut flowers, Australian plant displays, camellias, photography, plant stalls and open gardens. In fact, this year their program lists 228 classes and categories of entries. You read it—228! Honestly, even though it’s a short trip from Melbourne, you should probably stay a couple of days; how else are you going to get through all of that?
Awards are given for best exhibits, including Champion daffodil, Best daffodil bloom, Best in other bulbs, Best cut flowers, Best camellia bloom, Best in cut shrub and tree, Best Australian plant, Best floral art, Best plant or plants grown in a recycled container, Best in school student section, Best fruit and vegetable, and best photography. The volunteers at the Leongatha Horticultural Society will have their work cut out for them getting through all of this. Hats off to those folks!
