Biggest fish n chips on the Gold Coast

Strolling around the Q-Centre on the Gold Coast Show Holiday, our family was stuck for our favourite lunch-time options and happened to stumble on Leoleo's Seafood by chance. I had visited Leoleo's previously to purchase a handful of fresh king prawns, that were bigger than any prawns I had seen in my life! And as we don't eat fish n chips often, I hadn't noticed that within the well-stocked gourmet fresh seafood shop front, there was also the option for freshly cooked seafood of your choice.

Located in the heart of the Q-Centre in Mermaid Waters, and close to Coles, Leoleo's is in a handy spot, less than a few metres from bathrooms and parking (always very important with young children!) and also close to the ATM.

The shopfront of Leoleo's appears as large cabinets filled with fresh local seafood ranging from gigantic tiger prawns, to a huge array of exotic-looking fish and fish fillets, lobster and other beautiful produce. Everything looks like it has been caught within the last 24 hours, and it is easy to miss that the shop also doubles as a fish n chip restaurant.

Calamari big enough to feed 30

As I have mentioned before, our family prefers to spend our money in establishments where customer service is exceptional, and Leoleo's did not disappoint. Every staff member was well-trained and polite, to the point that I saw 3 staff members open and close doors for customers while we were sitting there (even while juggling plates and water) and saw other staff stopping to have a chat with several customers. Nothing was too much trouble and it felt more like dining in a restaurant at Marina Mirage rather than in a shopping complex.

The size of the meals absolutely shocked us! with only three of our family members out on this occasion, 2 servings of fish plus some calamari rings were enough for us to bring food home to the rest of the family and feed 5 people sufficiently! We had a little laugh at elderly patrons next to us exclaiming in delight over the size of their prawn platter, which was served with a huge bowl of seafood mayonnaise, and glasses of wine, which were served as elegantly as you would expect in a 5-star establishment. It was really lovely to see that level of service, and attention to detail, with everything placed carefully and with consideration onto the tables.

In all, we would highly recommend Leoleo's Seafood. On the day that we took our little girl, she was needing to visit the bathroom quite urgently, however once the food was brought to our table, she exclaimed "I can't stop eating long enough to get down from the table - it is just all too delicious!"
