I heard about this place called Lentil as Anything (not-for-profit restaurant) located in Abbotsford 2 kilometres east from Melbourne CBD. The restaurant's philosophy is pay what you feel the food is worth.
I found the idea of donating how much the food is worth intriguing. So, I persuaded two friends to join me to investigate how this system of payment works. Arriving at the restaurant, it is pretty ordinary from the front but the inside consists of a cool vibe of buzzing customers enjoying the delicious vegetarian dishes.
The system begins like this, before entering the restaurant there is a donation box on the right, drop your donation to how much you feel the food is worth. Second, pass the door, there is a buffet of different type of vegetarian dishes to choose from. Collect your cutlery and plate and off you go to choose the dishes which you fancy.
I chose two vegetable curry dishes along with the rice and from the bread basket, I managed to find two slices of rye bread. Once we were content with our plates, we headed outside to the front to sample our meal in the glorious sun.
Wait, it didn't stop there, we headed back inside the restaurant for our second servings. The food was that sufficiently good. Oh I nearly forgot about the dessert, tapioca covered in chocolate. I tasted it but my tastebuds didn't agree with it; nonetheless friends enjoyed it immensely. I guess it comes down to personal taste.
