I love places that allow me a late breakfast and Lentil was happy to serve me anything off their menu as I walked in at 11am. It is not your usual breakfast menu and has some exciting options such as their Sri Lankan Farmer's Breakfast of a crispy Sri Lankan crepe (there is a vegan option along with gluten free option) which is filled with spicy potato accompanied by yoghurt raita and tomato chutney.
Also on offer was Sweet Pancakes served with fruit, yoghurt and maple syrup as a vegan dish, Poached or Grilled Eggs with Potato Rostis, Semolina Corn Cakes, Spiced Beans and Semolina Corn Cakes, and Muesli of the Day.
This is a very unique menu with items not found elsewhere.
Today I walked in and was immediately greeted with a hearty 'Good Morning' by at least two of the staff with big smiles and was asked if I'd like something to drink and any breakfast. I ordered the muesli and a strong flat white. I can highly recommend this muesli as the best I have ever tasted. As a chilli lover, my taste buds are a tad 'dull' but this dish had cashews in it that I think may have been toasted which bought out incredible flavour. This was complimented by the fresh yoghurt which was not too sweet but had its own flavour, perhaps some vanilla.
Next time I would like to try the crispy potato rosti with poached egg served with a medley of baby greens. The lady next to me had this and I thought the garnish of fresh caramelised onion and garlic infused yoghurt sauce smelt amazing.
I went for my usual walk around the grounds but today was a little rainy so it was back to Lentil for another coffee before it was time to return to the equally beautiful Mornington Peninsula.
