One of my favourite Thai restaurants, Lemongrass, continues to serve up fresh mouth watering authentic cuisine, after 29 years in business.

The chefs at Lemongrass hand-make the pastes and sauces, and use seasonal produce, to ensure the freshest flavours; this is readily evident in the taste of all their dishes.

The extensive menu includes salads, soups, curries, and noodles, best for sharing, as customary in Asia, with a group of friends and family. The menu does however accommodate those who prefer their own meal or something light, with a lunch café menu offering a selection of curries and wok-fried dishes. All menu items have vegetarian or vegan options, and many are gluten, egg, and nut free.

I have eaten at Lemongrass on many occasions, and have always been delighted by the hospitable and polite staff, peaceful atmosphere, and generous and quality tasting meals.

Most recently I visited for lunch, and ordered their seafood laksa. Highly recommended, this dish can be made gluten free, has that delicious spicy, sour, creamy coconut curry taste, and is packed with mussels, prawns, calamari, fish balls, and grilled fish pieces.

My dining companion ordered the Pad See Ew, a non-spicy dish of thick rice noodles and Chinese greens stir-fried in dark soy and succulent pieces of beef; a simple and light choice.

When a Thai restaurant has remained open for near 30 years, on a street infamous for its Italian cuisine, you know the food must be extraordinary; I for one can vouch that it is. Go and find out for yourself.
