LOST or the Leichhardt Open Studio Trail is an event first introduced last year.
When this event was first brought to my attention last year, I couldn't hide my excitement as this is a rare chance to see an array of creative works behind normally closed doors. I followed the Studio Trail Map developed by the Council to visit quite a number of artist studios seeking the chance to speak with the artists. However, I have to say that one day simply wasn't enough time to see all the studios that I would love to visit. So, it was a bit of rush last year.
The good news is that LOST will be expanded to two days this year and so you can pace yourself in getting to all those interesting studios. Join the LOST trail on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 March 2013, from 10 am to 3.30 pm.
Over thirty artists studios throughout the local area open their doors to the public. Participating artists provide you with a great opportunity to view an exciting mix of genres including street art, video, painting, sculpture, mixed media, stencil art, illustration, silk-screen printing, mosaics, glass art, ceramics, flute making and millenery. So, there is something for everyone.
What I love about this open studio trail is that you can speak with the artists and gain a better understanding of how the artworks are created behind the scene; the direct interaction at the studio is not something that you can experience easily. You will be fascinated by their creative talents, passions and perseverance.
Working as a full-time artist isn't always easy. To enable the arts to flourish in the area, spread the word and show your support by participation.
To all art lovers, don't miss out and make sure you and your friends to seek this opportunity to join the creative tour. Your support means a lot to this group of talented artists.
