I am having a wonderful stay at Leichhardt Motor Inn in Toowoomba South. On the city centre fringe, the motel is compact but comfortable and rooms function superbly. I was clearly extremely fortunate to stay here for four nights during July, after a huge bus trip from North-West Queensland, the caretaker manager did so much great work to make me feel settled in at the motel, and to me, it shows management hires well. It's just $150 a night - you don't expect much but get a motel that definitely worked, looked appealing and is located in a neat enclave of the fringe of the city. I wish I wasn't so jaded from my long bus trip, I can state after such a trip you need somewhere just to totally disengage, and relax, and for this motel to offer everything it did for me is admirable at least to me. This particular enclave of South Toowoomba has a small suburban one-level shopping centre, with a cafe, kebab shop, Spar Express Central and bakery, all super convenient. The motel management clearly takes security seriously as well, so the car park is nice and secure (without distorting the customer experience), they have some nice touches to the property presentation as well. Management placed comfy, large chairs near reception so waiting for a room is comfortable, as customers can show up any time and often can't alter transport scheduling (apologies for no photos - as it is a very nice looking property, it is deemed quite wise not to totally display all its quirky features, so you can feel a bit surprised on arriving - something I really appreciated).

The Stay

Photos of my room below - I think while the photos indicate well-kept rooms, it was interesting as to why I paid a low tariff yet lived in much comfort throughout my stay. There's plenty to do in this town - so it makes much sense not to feel too lackadaisical - however the stay had that blend of relaxing, optional exploring (as it is indeed possible to not be overly strained by walking to places such as Grand Central , Queens Park, if driving the famous Picnic Point ), but surrounding Toowoomba are some really interesting villages and towns, so for a secure space and comfy room (and nice wide streets) much can be gained from having a proper explore of the surrounds. I am not a fussy customer, but I know what a good value tariff is and don't feel impeded to complain if my tariff doesn't reflect my stay, however at Leichhardt Motor Inn at $597 for four nights and the entire weekend can't possibly feel bad and in fact am writing very favourably about the place, at least I did feel a bit pleasantly surprised on arriving, as though people were fitting the motel properly. Then the room didn't disappoint either. Note if I feel so inclined to put all this time into a review it means they caught the eye so to speak, so I hope the praise isn't over the top but just there to let other customers get a bit of an idea of what to expect if deciding to book.

Images of the pool as seen below, it was about to rain so the manager assisted in getting me access to the pool to photograph it properly - much appreciated and I did my best to post a photo that reflects the high standard of customer service I received whilst at Leichhardt Motor Inn. It's not seasonal but is open in winter and at such a compact motel it's a useful addition largely for the summer months.

I hope the supplied photos (by the author in July 2024) at least portray my satisfaction with this stay and why I could be satisfied as well as communicate this unbiased and factual information. The motel is located in a beautiful little area, especially so in winter, and for being 'almost equidistant' for UniSQ and Toowoomba City Centre ( but closer to the city centre than the university) is a motel stay suited for several purposes related to visiting Queensland's 'Garden City'.

Online including reservations and contact and tour ideas all forms of online contact with the motel staff can be achieved via the corporate website of leichhardtmotorinn.com.au .

For tour ideas log onto visittoowoombaregion.com.au , although the fact I never bothered is actually really positive, meant customer service wasn't pushy, I just sat here and went 'down through the gears' after a fairly tough twenty-hour bus trip, most people with any sense would do that after a trip such as the one I just took on a half-full bus - which is tiring for such long distances. Great thing is it is all at your own pace here at Leichhardt Motor Inn, and that is the way I feel that it should be.
