Leichhardt Farmers' Market

Home > Sydney >
Published March 31st 2009
The Leichardt Organic Food and Farmers' Market is held each Saturday from 8am until 1pm in the grounds of the Orange Grove Public School, on the corner of Perry Street and Balmain Road.

Technically it's actually in Lilyfield, but I'm not one to split hairs.

Despite the dodgy nomenclature it's a great little market with lots of tasty produce ranging from fresh fruit and veg to some of the best brownies I've found in Sydney.

I regularly do some veggie shopping there. Great value, super fresh, and much more fun than a supermarket. Plus you can occasionally get fruit like apricots which are picked way to early by the supermarkets, and can only really be enjoyed when purchased from a farmers' market.

One great feature of the Leichardt market is that it's very close to the Rozelle Second Hand Markets which are open on Saturday and Sunday.

So for a super morning of Saturday market fun head over to Rozelle Markets for a browse through the bric-a-brac, and then drive or walk the short distance (about 2km, 30 mins walk) to the Leichardt markets to have brunch or lunch.

Why? Great fresh fruit and veg, and lots of other yummy things.
