Leichhardt Park, along the banks of Iron Cove, is a busy thoroughfare along the Bay Run. While it is commonly only passed through, there are aspects of it that make it suited to visit on its own.

Early morning views of Iron Cove
Leichhardt Park is located beside the premier function centre Le Montage and so there is a large amount of waterfront parking available. This is enough of a reason to choose this park, especially at busier times. The large parking space is beneficial for families with young children and also for less mobile people as they don't have to go far along the bay for views.
The spot is popular with seniors as there are benches close to the water, for looking out over the bay and reflecting.

Chill and take in the scenery
Leichardt Park has a nice neat playground for young children, and right beside it is a varied selection of adult gym equipment. You can see a lot of this sort of equipment around the Inner West, but this is definitely one of the better setups. Not only is it covered by a sunshade but it is also close enough to the children's play area that parents can workout while their children play.

The covered outdoor gym

People doing the Bay Run pass through Leichhardt Park
There is plenty of space along the seawall to enjoy the scenery, and the green space is popular for couples with picnic baskets. There is also a backdrop of greenery that nicely contrasts with the blue vista of Iron Cove.

Gaze across the water
This is also a great location from which to begin doing the Bay run – the loop track that takes you around Iron Cove Bay.
There is a covered amenities block with toilets and drinking fountains at both adult and child height – a nice touch.

The amenities block beside the childrens playground
The park extends a considerable way along the water front and also is home to the
Leichhardt Park Aquatic Centre.
Whether for a picnic or simply playtime Leichhardt Park is a good choice and an excellent entry point to the rest of the bay.
