If you're like me you want to ban the word 'bored' in the school holidays. My dad used to say there's never a reason to be bored if you use your imagination. This notion is the essence of the Bricks 4 Kids lego workshops.

This clever franchise started in America but is now thriving and growing in Australia. Joanne, the director of the Victorian Bricks 4 Kids, explained to me that the workshops are themed around Teenage mutant brick turtles, Ninjas, angry birds, space, mining and crafting and super heroes but kids are not restricted to these focuses.

In the workshops children are set up for success because the teachers personalise the sessions and catering to the interests, needs and abilities of the kids. Children can use the support of the provided instruction booklets or use their own imaginations to play, build and learn.

If you live anywhere near Mansfield, Benalla or Wangaretta you are in luck during these school holidays. The Bicks 4 Kids school holiday workshops are about to hit your towns. Children will have fun building Technic lego models and figure build models. There are also games, and art and craft activities and the support of enthusiastic teachers.

Bricks 4 Kids workshops are three hours ($35) or one hour for school aged students ($12) and preschooler classes (45 minutes for $10). Children under 5 years old need to be accompanied by an adult. Children can bring their own nut free snack and drinks. It occurs to me that some adults might be just as interested in these workshops.

Joanne says there is a big interest beyond regional Victoria and they are in the process of bringing two new franchisees to Melbourne. So keep your eyes open for the new Bricks 4 Kidz shortly. I know my kids absolutely loved the Mt Buller workshops and they get fantastic feedback from children and parents alike. I think there would be an opening for Lego workshops for adults!
Give your kids a chance to explore caped creatures, discover super powers in the super hero academy or craft a creeper or Steve in Mining and crafting. Have fun!
