Once a fortnight in Goolwa, Lego lovers gather at the Anglican Church Hall in Crocker Street, for a session of fun and creativity.

The club is organised by Asperlutely Autsome and Fleurieu Philanthropy Foundation and is aimed, primarily, at Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) families.

Asperlutely Autsome Inc organises a variety of social events for members and their families and friends. The aim is to provide events which give the opportunity for individuals and families living with ASD to socialise and participate in activities that might otherwise be difficult for them.

Non ASD-identified children are welcome to join in if numbers allow although there is a small cost involved for non-registered families.

There was a hive of activity when I visited the lego club recently. Children are encouraged to tell a story about their creation once it's completed, so I settled in to listen to a story or two.

Bethan had built a jungle, complete with waterfall, jungle characters and a crocodile.

From other children I heard tales of jungle princesses and 'gold finders' in the jungle. Definitely a jungle theme going on that morning.

Mums, Dads and coordinators sipped cups of tea or coffee while being entertained by amusing jungle tales.

The club is suitable for children between 5 and 12 years of age. Parents must accompany children and under three-year-olds are excluded from handling the lego (I think we know why).
