School holidays can often be a difficult time for parents - it's tricky keeping those kids entertained after the milestones of Christmas and New Year are past. Luckily your local library has come to the rescue, with free entertainment for a couple of hours which should provide an alternative to the kids driving you nuts at home.

These holidays, Brisbane City Council Libraries will host a LEGO Activity Centre. Touring around the suburbs is a mobile LEGO play centre, where children are encouraged to construct works of art using LEGO and their imagination. The Activity Centre is designed for children aged from 8 - 18 years, and will be in local libraries for a minimum of a two hour session for fun and play. Places are limited, so you should make a booking before planning to attend.

The LEGO activity centre will visit City Council Libraries on the following dates:

Bracken Ridge Library: Tuesday 7 January 2-4pm (07) 3667 6060
Banyo Library: Thursday 9 January 1-3pm (07) 3403 2200
Mitchelton Library: Thursday 9 January 2-4pm (07) 3403 7410
Zillmere Library: Friday 10 January 10.30-12:30pm (07) 3403 1455
Toowong Library: Saturday 11 January 11am-2pm (07) 3403 2590
Wynnum Library: Saturday 11 January & Thursday 23 January (07) 3403 2199
Hamilton Library: Tuesday 14 January 10:30am-2:30pm (07) 3403 1050
Ashgrove Library: Wednesday 15 January 2-4pm (07) 3407 1940
Carindale Library: Thursday 16 January 10am-12 noon (07) 3407 1490
Chermside Library: Monday 20 January 2-3pm (07) 3403 7200
Bulimba Library: Tuesday 21 January 10am-12 noon (07) 3407 8223

The best thing about these events occurring in your local library is that there is plenty of reading material, including magazines and newspapers on hand to keep Mum, Dad or the Grandparents occupied while the kids play. Other options for adult time-out include iPads, family history research dedicated computers and internet access. Of course it is advisable to make bookings for these prior to your visit to ensure that you have access to these during the time which you require them.

More information about what's on can be found on the Brisbane City Council Website , or follow the library on Twitter (@BNElibraries) or on Facebook (Facebook.com/BrisbaneLibraries).
