Tom Hardy is an incredibly versatile actor who has played a range of very different characters, including Bane in the last Batman film to Max in the Mad Max film released last year. However, this time we see him take on two characters in the same film. Although this may initially seem like a gimmick, Tom Hardy manages to pull it off, playing two similar, yet very different characters very well.

From the trailer you may be fooled into thinking that Legend is going to be similar in style to the British crime comedies Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch. However, Legend is a much darker, violent and grittier movie based on real life events. The film follows the Kray Twins, two notorious gangsters and their organised crime empire in the East End of London during the 1960s. The film in particular focuses on the life of Reggie Kray as he seeks to control his often psychotic identical twin, Ronald Kray.

Overall the directing is a little lacking at times, but it's worthwhile watching just to see Tom Hardy's incredible performance. Be warned that the film can get quite violent at times and has strong language.

See Legend in cinemas from 15 October 2015.
