There's something oddly comforting about being able to freely roam the road with no cars and no need to stop, look and listen for oncoming traffic. To take full advantage of this concept, the central strip in Leederville's urban town centre is hosting Leedy Streets Open [Be]very Sunday in March from 3pm to 9pm[/B] on sections of Oxford and Newcastle Streets in Leederville.
Welcoming people without their cars, businesses will be setting up alfresco dining areas for visitors to soak up the great outdoors with the smells of food filling the air. Stroll around the Oxford Street Reserve and its nature play area, have fun at the bocce pit and outdoor table tennis, wander through boutique shops and satisfy hunger at a range of food and drink venues.Some of the things to catch on Sundays are:
Theo & Co, Sienas, Kailis Bros and Guzman Y Gomez with extended alfresco dining areas and live performances Pinchos will have street cooking Urban Records will be spinning tunes and records Gusto Gelato will have an ice cream parklet Ria will be hosting an outdoor BBQ Funky Bunches & Atlas Divine has wares to browse on the street
Various retail stores will stay open for longer hours
Catch the St Patrick's Day Parade through the street from 10am on Sunday 12th March in addition to the usual weekly events and offerings. Linger in Leederville for longer into the summery evenings and support local businesses in a vibrant community atmosphere.
