See Lee Kernaghan perform his latest songs
Lee Kernaghan is a legend! He is a legend about to play in Perth and a legend not to be missed!
Lee Kernaghan, whose full name is Lee Raymond Kernaghan, was born in April of 1964 at Corryong, Victoria. He is one of Australia's most popular singers who revived Australian country music in the 1990s. He mixes these traditional country themes with modern day rock and roll.
Kernaghan's father, Ray also became well known as a country singer during Lee's teenage years. Lee formed his first band in the mid-1970s, and he did this with his brother Greg and his sister Tania. He and his dad went on to represent Australia at the International Country Music Fan Fair in Nashville.
At one stage Lee abandoned his musical career due to lack of work in Australia. He then went on several years later to be offered a contract with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation Records.
In 2004 Kernaghan was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia in recognition of his fund-raising efforts on behalf of farmers and rural communities.
Then in 2008 Kernaghan was named Australian of the Year by the then Prime Minister Kevin Rudd. He went on to win multiple awards and the rest is history!
He has won the Golden Guitar award some 37 times. He has released many albums now and coinciding with the release of his new album, Lee has now announced The Backroad Nation Tour which has already started. This will see him playing 48 concert events, Australia-wide, throughout 2019.
