It's time to get your creative juices flowing with Term 4 about to start at Rocketfrog Stained Glass and Mosaic Studios. Jet Carroll, the founder and driving force behind the Studios has Rocketfrog humming along with ongoing, regular workshops in lead lighting, mosaics and glass fusing.

Jet is the creative and innovative force behind the instructional and technical support of the students at Rocketfrog Stained Glass Studios. With a BA in Architectural Glass Jet has been working with glass since 1991 and, since 1999, she has also been teaching glass art to all ages including specialist art therapy classes.

Now completely set up in her new facilities at Mount Gravatt East with her lead lighting, glass fusing and mosaic classes available to all comers experienced and totally new comers, Jet is running some structured courses. Take your pick of one or all of these opportunities being presented in Term 4:
6 Weeks Lead Lighting Course held from Friday, 14 October until Friday, 18 November, 2016. Classes run from 10.00am to 1.00pm. Cost of the Lead Lighting course is $180 plus project costs;

5 Weeks Glass Mosaic Course begins on Sundays, 16 October and runs until Sunday, 13 November, 2016. Tuition runs on each Sunday from 10.00am to 1.00pm. Cost for the Mosaics Course is $150 plus project costs; and

2 One Day, Fun Day Glass Fusing Workshops are set to run on Friday, 25 November, 2016 and Sunday, 27 November, 2016. Cost for the Glass Fusing Workshops is $105 which includes your glass and kiln firings.

If you would like to get into glass fusing straight away check here for some September workshops which may still have some places available.

You can also join in Jet's casual classes and get some expert help to finish off a project already underway or to help your creativity in a quiet, built-for-purpose and supportive atmosphere. These casual classes cost $25 for a 3 hour workshop.

Enjoy working in this quiet, built-for-purpose and supportive atmosphere

You will find, as I have done, working with glass is a wonderful and fulfilling pastime. It gets you completely involved both mentally and physically in the creation of a masterpiece well, maybe not so many masterpieces in my case but I saw plenty created around me. Join in and take the opportunity to meet new friends and learn some glass art skills in a relaxed and creative environment. The classes are kept small to enable personal attention at all critical points during your creative phases.

One of the most important parts of leadlighting is you must have the proper tools and materials. Rocketfrog Stained Glass Studios has a wide-range of glass art supplies for creating your next great work of art.

Please Note:
Workshop bookings are essential as class sizes are deliberately kept small and, as a result, fill quickly. Additionally, the Studio's workshop and shop are open by appointment only.

To make your bookings and appointments contact Jet at Rocketfrog Stained Glass Studios by email at or by phone or text on 0421 063 369.

In the meantime check out the Studio's Facebook page for updates and future course dates.

Your Comment
I love the idea of lead lighting, Tony, and have even attempted it once, but hated getting all the materials stuck under my nails (perhaps I'm too much of a princess) and I cut myself to ribbons - went through a box of bandaids. I can fully understand why the finished product is so expensive to buy - and this is the way I have to go, if I want anything lead lighted in my home - great article!
