Did you know that the average person spends 10-15 minutes on the toilet a day – that's almost 8 hours a month. What could you do with those 8 hours? Instead of scrolling through your phone (or whatever else it is that you do), imagine if we spent that time learning something new? Introducing
article&utm_campaign=LearnOnTheLoo&utm_content=eventlisting , WaterAid's new fundraising challenge.
This November,
WaterAid is challenging you to dedicate the time you spend on the loo to learning a new skill.
Memorise ,
meditate , or
master your way through the month and ask your friends to sponsor you. Funds raised will help
WaterAid reach some of the poorest and most marginalised people on earth who still don't have access to a decent dunny.
Having access to a toilet is something we take for granted. It is a basic human right that protects people from dangerous diseases. Unfortunately, there are still 2.3 billion people worldwide who don't have access to a decent toilet. That's one in three people worldwide.
Every $40 you raise through can help a family build their own toilet. Find out more about WaterAid's work [LINK=https://fundraise.wateraid.org.au/event/learnontheloo/why-toilets]here.

So what would you like to learn? Maybe make a commitment to recite the flags of the world, the periodic table, or even your favourite song lyrics. What about some basics in Spanish? Hola amigos. Check out these fabulous toilet door posters you can
download to help you learn.
Or maybe you struggle to find the time to meditate? What a perfect opportunity for some peace and quiet - transform the smallest room into your personal meditation space.
Can you master a new skill while you sit? You could teach yourself to knit or crochet. By the end of the month, you could have the perfect toilet roll holder as a reminder of the wonderful time you had. Or maybe you fancy yourself as the new Rubik's cube master. You may even discover a new ongoing hobby.
Remember to stay hygienic while taking your challenge. During the month of November, it's recommended you leave a bottle of hand sanitiser in your loo.
How do you raise money once you've registered? Here are some suggestions:
Join the "
" Facebook group
Ask a friend or family member to join you (maybe use different loos) in a friendly rivalry to keep you accountable
Ask your friends, family, neighbours, work/school colleagues and local businesses to sponsor you.
