There are a multitude of things you can learn in this world, and a lifetime to learn and experience them.
Apart from wanting to impress the opposite sex, immersing yourself in another language can really take you away from reality, and there are plenty of places in Perth that offer courses.
So apart from surprising yourself with the things you can grasp and learn, why not elevate your desire to run around the world and use your new talent for real?
Je t'aime, Je t'aime
First up, you want to decide which language is for you. You could go for something straight up and common, like French. I know many people think that this is the 'sexy' option. The language of love. But why?
It is said to be called the language of love, because of the way words are pronounced. It is quite the 'lippy' language, meaning you have to stick your lips out to pronounce the words correctly. Now would this make you fall in love with someone, or feel like you're talking to a fish? I'd go for the latter. And if you get it wrong, I can only imagine you look like a pouting fool. Frankly, I'd rather take my chances with something else. But if you're keen for French, who am I to stop you? You can learn here.
Of all the Asian languages in the Northeast Asia region, such as Japanese, Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean is said to be the easiest to learn. With a large number of borrowed English words, there's a good start for you.
Korean could also prove extremely useful when travelling to Korean restaurants in Countries other than Korea, as I hear that if the waiter knows this, you'll get a larger portion of food than usual.
So, if you're sick of looking blankly at SBS progamming without subtitles, get on to a language. Not only are you learning something new, it's also handy when you run in to a Russian who suddenly wants to give you their life savings because, they just do. You don't want to miss that one because you didn't understand what they were saying.
