Calling all you Eco-warriors out there, here is a great opportunity to learn some fantastic and useful tips for avoiding the tip by finding out how to reuse the stuff you were going to throw away. Logan City Council is again hosting the popular sustainable lifestyle event, the Logan Eco Action Festival (LEAF) at Griffith University, Logan Campus, University Drive, Meadowbrook starting at 10.00am and running through until 3.00pm on Sunday, 31 May, 2015.
Entry to this unique and beneficial event is absolutely FREE.
LEAF is Logan's most successful environmental event providing eco-loving tips in a free, fun, family environment. The theme of this year's Festival is, 'Refill not Landfill'. In addition to information and education on maintaining our environment, you can enjoy free music, eco-exhibitors, workshops, wildlife displays, giveaways and FREE kids activities.
LEAF is an excellent opportunity for you to learn new ways to live more cleanly and greenly and how you can make small changes to the way you live so you can really start making a difference. LEAF is the place if you are thinking about getting solar panels for your home or business but don't know where to start. Or, if you want to find out how to help by volunteering some of your time to local community-based organisations then join in and all will be revealed.
As well as the focus on 'Refill not Landfill' you can enjoy all the fun of the Festival which includes a mini-village where you can shop at the stalls, or you can attend workshops and demonstrations designed to help you make educated and informed choices for sustainably changing the way you live and understanding how your choices affect our environment or take this opportunity to share tips that really do make a difference with like-minded people on living a clean, green and sustainable life.
As in previous years, there will be plenty of activities on offer for people of all ages. The attractions will include giant slides and jumping castles for the young kids as well as a wall climb and Segway rides for the older 'kids'.
An important part of the day will be for you to remember the motto, 'Refill not Landfill' and bring your own reusable water bottle. There will be water stations located around the site to allow you to fill up throughout the day. To make sure we can all 'do as we say', LEAF will not be selling disposable plastic water bottles and you are encouraged to bring a reusable water bottle for your own use.
This is going to be a fantastic day of learning, fun and entertainment that is going to help you sustain our environment and enjoy a greener lifestyle. For more information about the Festival and a full list of the attractions available please click here.
