A place for value-for-money, hearty meals
I am currently in Montreal taking a holiday and I couldn't have imagine a more vibrant city. Festivals, events, historic buildings, quaint cafes - I'm loving it all. But this article is about a not-so-quaint cafe with not-so-quaint portions but absolutely lovely food.

Le Vieux St-Laurent, situated at 3993 Boulevard St-Laurent, came up as the place to go to since hubby wanted to have a huge crepe breakfast. But this place serves crepes and more, all at a very reasonable price (before taxes and tips. I am still getting used to all this because in Australia, everything has tax already added to it so what you see is what you get).

There were four of us and amongst us we ordered a big breakfast, a spinach and cheddar crepe, a mushroom and cheddar crepe and a fruit crepe.

Service was friendly but the food took some time to arrive. No complaints however, since the food was delicious and the portions were huge. A plate of crepes was enough for two people. But we had already over-ordered.

Delicious

This crepe was enough to satisfy my dessert cravings.

Enough to satisfy my dessert cravings

We also ordered two smoothies and the total came to around $56. Add taxes and tips and I paid a total of $70 for the four of us.

Overall, not a fancy place but expect good food, good service, lots of choices and high satiety levels.
