You know when you first go to hang out with a new friend, outside of a setting such as work or training, where you normally meet each other? And you give them the choice of picking a place, hoping they make a good choice? Well, after several attempts to set up a rendezvous with a friend of mine, we finally got together. She picked , exposing her good taste.

[ADVERT]Well, she got some brownie points for that. And I fell in love with Le Pain once again.

My romance with this bakery/cafe began in their last branch in Abu Dhabi. At first friends and I were drawn in by its casual, woody, warm décor. I must add that one of its endearing characteristics is that all the furniture is made of reclaimed wood.

It started with a cup of coffee and then from one visit to the other I tried some delicious gratines, various types of bread, pastries, their amazing fresh pain chocolat, and fruit tarts.

The staff are also a friendly bunch and have recommended some good food and helped me out for a few birthday surprises.

My recent visit to Le Pain in Dubai was the first time I really looked at their salad section for all they had to offer vegetarians. Each dish sounded enticing with a variety of freshness, cheese and dressings. When my eye fell on the goat cheese salad, I knew it was the one for me.

I was served a whole load of 'yumminess', as my friend put it. My salad was full of summer goodness - raspberries, slices of green apple, walnuts, a mountain of greens, balsamic vinegar, and some honey-based dressing that was drizzled over my favourite part, the goat cheese. Of course, me being me, I couldn't help but order a nice, hot Americano to go with my meal.

Sticking with the feel of summer, my friend ordered a refreshing cucumber soup, a dish she highly recommends. It's one of those, 'once you go green you can't go back' situations. She thoroughly enjoyed it and claimed that it has never failed her.

It was great to venture away from my typical gratines and pies to try something new and frankly, I can't wait to go back and discover all the other treats Le Pain has to offer.
