A couple of months ago, my husband and I travelled to Belgium - for a week! I know sounds crazy as you spend two days just travelling to and from Belgium via the Philippines (where we were living there at the time). But it was one of the best holidays we've ever had. One place in particular, where we had breakfast several times (and given the short time we were there and we kept going back says something) was Le Pain Quotidien .

Ok, backtrack a bit, the reason we were travelling is because my husband is actually half-Belgian, and he wanted to reconnect with his extended family from his Dad's side over there. We were not disappointed. Meeting his fam was wonderful and the food was first-class in Belgium.

Now, back to my review of Le Pain Quotidien . We stayed in Antwerp (where his family is based) and our hotel didn't include breakfast so on our first day there, morning walk it was! Antwerp is a cute, little city to explore by foot.

After walking for nearly 30 minutes from our hotel, we realised almost everyone was closed until 10am and it was 8am when were walking out and about. You can probably walk faster than I did. Thankfully this restaurant/cafe opens at 7am.

Traversing the cobbled pathways and getting a good look around at all the historical architecture, it was a lovely adventure discovering Le Pain Quotidien . It's actually a franchise, which we soon found out the next day there were quite a few around Belgium.

We tried different meals each time, and each was consistently delicious!

We loved Le Pain Quotidien ! We would recommend it to all our friends and family - our expectations were met every time and the staff were always friendly and spoke perfect English (they even had special menus in English). Being tourists, we had no idea what the English-level people would have around. Some didn't speak English so much, but every time we went to this restaurant/cafe they made us feel welcome and quite at home.
