Twenty-two former
Cirque du Soleil performers join other world class performers in
Le Noir, a theatrical production hailed as 'surreal, beautiful, seductive and at times hilariously risqué' by
Time Out Singapore.
Simon Painter, the producer, explains, "The original concept behind Le Noir was to take the very best of the best cirque performers in the world and rather than create a production in a huge auditorium or arena, produce an intimate style show where the audience is literally inches from the action on stage. Part of the concept is to make the audience experience the show rather than just watch it and a number of sophisticated special effects are employed to make this possible."
In the tradition of Cirque du Soleil, the feats performed have to be seen to be believed.
Acts include the
Colombian Wheel of Death. In a pair of spinning wheels high above the stage, two acrobats perform one of the most complex circus stunts in the world.
The story follows a visual narrative, exploring the full spectrum of emotions from pure white, through to red and finally delving into the inky black of
Le Noir.
Fresh from a sold out world tour,
Le Noir opens at the State Theatre, Arts Centre in Melbourne from 9 April 2015."Le Noir is a feast for the senses. Visually, it is captivating" – Perth Now."melding of physics, physique and psyche is what makes us marvel" – The Courier Mail.
