As such, the clientele of Le Flaneur is a draw card in itself, a mish mash of tram drivers, hipsters, workers and locals that helps the café strike a harmonious balance between Melbourne's haute coffee culture and suburbia.

The cafe rotates three specialty coffee blends, sourced from Proud Mary . Cold drip coffee is a specialty on the menu, served with sugar syrup and milk on the side; it makes for a lighter alternative to traditional iced coffee. In addition, the menu contains a small but well executed selection of the usual breakfast and lunch suspects, as well as sandwiches and cakes. There are no great hulking muffins in residence here, Le Flaneur's selection of macaroons, danishes and cakes all hold true to the patisserie format of petite and sweet.

Despite, or perhaps because of, its non-location, Le Flaneur is a place to drink really well made coffee without the pretensions that surround the sometimes-intimidating coffee scene in Melbourne.
