Eat as the Normans do

Le Bounty in Honfleur is a charming, quaint bistro. It is tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the numerous restaurants and eating places along the river promenade. It has an appealing and attractive look and feel to it. Situated in the old village, it is surrounded by some delightful old buildings. There was a town market just in front, offering interesting French knick knacks, enticing food items, fruits and vegetables.

Seafood is of superior quality in Normandy and mussels are prepared and served in many different ways. I had mine the basic way – oil, garlic, parsley, and wine. They were excellent. How do the French make anything taste like gourmet? The answer is moot. The serving came with a small bowl of chips, or should I say, French fries? A glass of Merlot seemed just like the right thing to go with it.
