After wearing ourselves out at the St Augustine's Jumble Sale yesterday my mother and I were in desperate need of some caffeinated beverages. Wandering along the restaurant precinct of Racecourse Road we simply could not resist the beautifully presented shopfront of Le Bon Choix.

From the moment you step through the door it is like you've dropped briefly into some delightful parisienne patisserie. The lovely young shop assistant greeting us with a cheerful "bonjour!". We were just going to have coffees, honest, but five seconds in front of the sheer artistic joy that is their cake displays and you cannot help but try a little something. Using what can only be described as extreme willpower we elected to share a simple apple danish. It was $4 of sheer heaven, I would have paid more for the delicate workmanship involved in creating such a superb pastry.

My inner coffee snob was also elated. Perfect cappuccinos with no need to request extra shots of coffee. I've finally found my go to Northside coffee shop.

I cannot wait to go back and try some of the other delights they have on offer. My only inner turmoil will be to chose one of the pure fancies of sugared genius or go the savoury route. Trust me, spend five minutes staring at their sweets and then move onto the breads and pastries and you will be torn too!

Au Revoir!
