Lawn Bowls for Juniors and Teens
Lawn bowls is often considered a sport for middle-aged and older people. Yet lawn bowls has also been attracting young people for a few years.

A number of bowling clubs and RSLs in NSW teach young people from primary school years to 18 years of age the skill and enjoyment of bowling on the green.

Lawn Bowls for juniors is also a vibrant sport in other states such as Queensland, where the under 18's NSW team recently competed against the Queensland team. Also, the NSW State Junior Championships are being held during the July school holidays at Warilla. Bowls New South Wales has information on lawn bowls and the junior sport.

At the North Ryde RSL, for example, young people from 12 18 years can come along and learn. Saturday mornings are dedicated to the girls and Saturday afternoons are for the boys.

Students from some of the local high schools have lawn bowls as part of their sport curriculum and go to North Ryde RSL on a weekday. Other young people get involved in lawn bowls as part of their Duke of Edinburgh activities.

The older more experienced bowlers are keen to show the younger ones the techniques of lawn bowls. As one experienced bowler said, "We're not going to be around forever and we want this sport to continue." So encourage the young ones and teens in your life to try this fascinating sport.
