Goolwa's quirky artspace in the laneway
There's a new art space to add to your list of places to visit in Goolwa. Just a little way along BF Laurie Lane, you'll find a cluster of studios in the stone outbuildings of what was once the policeman's residence next to the original Police Station and Courthouse.
The artists in residence open their working studios to visitors each weekend from 11am till 3pm.
Michael Bryant paints portraits and recently presented an exhibition entitled 'Anthropocentric' which focussed on the modern phenomena of the 'selfie'. Michael feels that digital images lack physical presence and enjoys reinterpreting them in his paintings thus giving the image more tangibility.
Mon Bowring denies her status as a fully fledged artist and describes herself as a 'recreational hobbyist.' Mon recently left her highly successful retail business in the care of her adult children so that she had more time to dabble in art and is currently enjoying working with oil paints.
