Premium Food Business With Artisan Baking
Tucked away in a corner of the Westfield shopping centre near David Jones, you'll find Laurent Boulangerie Patisserie. This is a classy café with a lovely atmosphere. The stunning light fittings make a bold statement. Add gold adorning, large floral arrangement and photos on the wall and you have elegant ambience. Like many new cafés they have traditional seating and very comfortable leather couches.
Historic photos line the walls
Laurent is a premium food business selling French/European style breads, cakes, pastries, savouries, confectionery and other delicious food products. They are well known for their stone-baked sour-dough.
The bread rolls and focaccias were ridiculously large. They would have been more than enough to share. I chose an individual serve of mushroom quiche. This is as one of the nicest ones I have ever tasted. It was served very hot, had a delicious buttery flaky pastry and creamy filling. The size was just right for a snack or lunch and it was served with mixed lettuce leaves and a tasty dressing. A small amount of feta and tomatoes would have really been up my alley.
There was a large range of prepared lunch options as well as an extensive range of the signature sweet treats. I love the way that Laurent have their labels on the cakes. This reminds you that you are having a very special treat from the Laurant. Don't go thinking this is a budget café. The cakes can be $8 each but that's the price of unique sweets.
It's impossible to choose
A word of warning. It's a good idea to go early if you'd like to have lunch because by the time we were leaving there were no tables and chairs and very long queues to order.
Free water is available by self-serve. I bought my usual hot chocolate, which was creamy, hot but not very large.
Large savoury meals
The service was good, there were plenty of waitresses and waiters attending to orders and clearing the dishes. I must say though that even if the service were poor I would still want to go to sample those delicious desserts.
