Close to the city centre, Laurel Bank Park features not only manicured gardens and mature trees but also BBQ/picnic facilities, play equipment and a scented garden. The park is beautiful year-round regardless of the season. In autumn, the trees start to shed their yellow and brown leaves. These are soon replaced by stark branches during the winter months. Then, as spring and summer approaches, new growth brings an abundance of life to the park.

The wisteria walk is not to be missed if you're visiting in springtime. The greenery, fragrance and shade give a sense of satisfaction as well as enjoyment. Another popular area is the rose garden which blooms rather attractively when in season.

Designed specifically for the visually impaired, the scented garden has been filled with perfumed plants and herbs that are simply gorgeous. There is a pond and fountain too. In addition to the play equipment, children might also be impressed with the park's topiary-hedge Thomas the Tank Engine.

Laurel Bank Park can be found on Hill Street, at the corner of West Street, in Toowoomba. Both on-street and off-street parking are available. For more information, head to www.tr.qld.gov.au .
