Running for the fifth year, the Laura Street Festival in Highgate Hill is a not-for-profit celebration of community, culture, food, music, theatre, and LIFE.
Laura Street Festival is a drug-free, alcohol-free and tobacco-free event. The festival is a community event run by the community, for the community, in the community. All events and workshops are held in the residents's back yards, front yard, streets, and footpaths.
Attendees can tap their toes to tunes, gain new knowledge and skills, get creative with arts and crafts, listen to local stories, and relax with fellow festival-goers.
Laura Street Festival presents many musicians and bands, including The Mouldy Lovers, Virginia Sook, and Gonzovillain.
Handy folk are ready to share their skills. Learn how to tie dye, tie knots, write screenplays, improvise, dance capoeira, learn about consent, and more!
This year also sees local K-Pop group Justice Crew performing, a book launch by Swedish poetry slam champion Lovissa Appellkvist, a street parade, and roving performances.
Food offerings include not-for-profit African restaurant Mu'ooz, backyard wood-fired pizza, a bake sale, falafels, fermented foods, a sausage sizzle, icypoles, a hummus competition, a spreads and preserves competition and many others.
Bring cash for any food and drinks. Water is provided, so bring a bottle.
Residents of Laura Street and the festival organisers encourage attendees to bring their love, laughter, sun protection and sense of adventure.
