Must experience the world’s longest single chairlift
If you are after a little adventure in the heart of the city then the First Basin Chairlift in Launceston is a must do activity, which everyone will enjoy.

In 1972, this amazing chairlift was built over the breathtaking and natural phenomenon of the Cataract Gorge. Not just is it built over this spectacular natural basin but it is also the world's longest single chairlift, making this 'sky-high' adventure one to add to the bucket list!

The Chairlift covers around 457 metres, with the central span of 308 metres that is believed to be the longest in the world. It sits two people or of course you can be "selfish" and take a ride through the skies and canopies of the lush trees on your own!

A breathtaking view of the spectacular rock formulations...

The seating includes a safety bar and the speed is slow, which enables you to truly appreciate and experience the wonders of the ancient rock gorge and breathtaking views.

An amazing view of the Cataract Gorge...

It is beyond doubt that this serene, smooth eight minute experience is a must do. With views of manicured gardens, ancient rock formations, falls, gushing river and the gorge, peacocks (spotted almost throughout the whole journey) and flowing through the trees, it really makes you value nature's beauty.

My footsies loving the ride...

If you are scared of heights you do not need to worry as the First Basin Chairlift has a 100 percent safety record, so there is no excuse not to experience the views from a different perspective.

A view of the Suspension Bridge & Gorge...

This is a must do experience when you are visiting or staying in Launceston, just do not forget the camera!
