Laughter Yoga was developed in Mumbai, India in 1995 by Dr. Madan Kataria, a qualified Medical doctor and his wife Madhuri, a yoga teacher. Dr. Kataria believed that people were laughing less and less as time went by and were more stressed, and also that laughter did indeed have some significant health benefits. There are now over 6,000 Laughter Clubs around the world in 70 counties.

WHAT IS LAUGHTER YOGA Laughter Yoga is a group session of aerobic activity which "turns fake laughter into real laughter". Laughter Yoga can have the power to change your mood within minutes by releasing "happy hormones" called endorphins. You will feel the benefits from the very first session you partake in.
The playfulness of Laughter Yoga also can help reset your outlook on life. Through Laughter Yoga, you can learn to cope better with negative situations, difficult people or upsetting circumstances.

In these classes, you do hand-clapping rhythms, simple breathing exercises from yoga, and "playful laughter exercises" and the classes are low key and easy, and of course, lots of fun!
Apparently, our brains cannot differentiate between fake laughter and genuine laughter and provides the benefits of laughter anyway. "In a group, laughter becomes contagious and the participants gain the benefits, which are well researched".

Creative Expressionismsismmms is a community-based organisation that creates unique opportunities for people to "connect, learn and grow". They are able to do this through several workshop events, programmes and projects that are "designed to meet the needs of different corporate, community and social groups".
The Laughter Yoga classes are held every Thursday evening during summer and are held in a park. Here you can meet like-minded people, try new things and possibly improve your health and fitness.
