Can you tell me a little bit about ?
Did you know that in Papua New Guinea, coffee is more than just a delicious beverage that doubles up as a much needed wake up call -
"it's a way of life". Did you know that the coffee industry in Papua New Guinea employs over
2.5 million people? And that coffee is Papua New Guinea's second largest agricultural export?
The majority of coffee produced in Papua New Guinea is attributed to premium small holders rather than large farms; many of these small holders are subsistence farmers in highland tribes. Their process of producing coffee beans is considered both highly sustainable with an emphasis on quality, and of course is also a a vital source of income. Coffee beans produced by small holders are grown naturally without using chemicals, and involves being handpicked, pulped communally, centrally processed (washed), and then sun dried on patios. These quality coffee beans are graded as PSC, or Premium Stallholder Coffee -
"The Laughing Pug is proud to be a part of this process", supporting both small holders in addition to the environment, and of course supporting their consumers too by providing great coffee!
