What's the Big Hoo Haa at The Octagon? LOL for WA Kids
Texting LOL is not nearly as good as hearing a friend laugh out loud. So why not take a friend to "Laugh Out Loud for Charity" at the Octagon Theatre on Saturday 24th October at 7:30pm. The cost is only $47 with promo code 4thekids, or you can pay full price if you like as all the proceeds will go to support Variety the Children's Charity. The event is suitable for persons over the age of 18 and tickets are available from ticketsWA.
Variety-the Children's Charity has reached the big 40 this year but they are far from over the hill. They say that life begins at 40 and we can expect a newly invigorated Variety program, helping Australian children in need overcome whatever obstacles they face to live life to the fullest! Helping kids be kids! A renewed commitment to empowering Australian children who are sick, disadvantaged or who have special needs to LIVE, LAUGH & LEARN. Variety is a national not for profit organisation that provides practical equipment & experiences through the Variety programs "Freedom, Future Kids & Caring for Kids".
Never been to the Octagon? Do not be confused by the name; "The Octagon Theatre" is not the lair of an evil mathematical genius intent on world domination. It is a favourite venue for stand-up comedians as the design allows the audience to hear every word regardless of seat location and in return comedians can hear every laugh….or not.
Opened in 1969, the Octagon was Australia's first thrust stage. Seating up to 758 patrons, the Octagon regularly hosts high profile events such as Q&A and the Perth International Arts Festival.
The venue is intimate and confronting, but as my parents always told me about cornered comedians "they're more afraid of you than you are of them". I sure hope they're right. You can find out all you need to know about the Octagon right here and yes it does have 8 sides.
