Lau Peking is an Asian Grocer and kitchen located in the Westfield Marion Shopping Centre . The newly created food hall in the western end of the shopping centre has a fresh, market-style vibe featuring a greengrocer, cheesemonger, butcher, florist, yoghurt shop, and a few other Asian style restaurants.

The front of Lau Peking is a kitchen where they serve meals, and the back of the store is the grocer where an abundance of Asian cooking goods are available. Fresh meals are on offer throughout the day and you can watch the friendly staff as they prepare the food. Lau Peking offers both takeaway and dine-in options as this new section of Westfield is set up like a food court with multiple seating options.

The first thing that attracted me to Lau Peking was their dumplings. Often I have to venture all the way into the Adelaide CBD for some good dumplings. Not anymore, which makes me very happy. The dumpling are offered either boiled or fried, and in a variety of quantities so you can have them as an entre, snack, or meal. They also have a choice of sauces for the dumplings on each table including soy, vinegar, and chilli sauce. I ordered a small plate of the dumplings and they were gone so quick I forgot to take a photo!

For mains, I ordered the Crispy Duck Dumpling Noodle Soup while my sister had the Beef Noodle Soup. Both of these were great size servings and made fresh in a short amount of time. They both had noodles, greens, and a portion of meat in a broth. The duck I had was so crispy and didn't go soggy at all in the soup, and all the flavours of the dish complemented each other very well. I will definitely be heading back for this exact dish again because I enjoyed it so much.

They also offer other noodle, rice, meat, and seafood dishes, however looking around at other diners I could see that the dumplings must be a popular choice. All the dishes were great prices, the duck dish only $12.50 and the beef $10.50.

On my next visit, I'll have to buy all the ingredients in the store and try making the dish myself at home.
