Lau Pa Sat Food Pavilion

Visiting a Hawker Centre in Singapore is the best way to sample the local food. Lau Pa Sat, located in the heart of the financial district and only 5-minute walk from Raffles Place MRT, is open 24 hours, seven days a week and serves up a massive choice of some of the best freshly prepared local food that Singapore has to offer.
From breakfast favourites like kaya toast, famous white and black pepper crab, Yong Tau Foo, Hainanese chicken rice and satay skewers to shaved ice, beer and fresh fruit juices. At Lau Pa Sat, you can enjoy a feast fit for a King at a nominal price in one location. Walk around to see what others are eating and order a variety of dishes to share. If you are travelling alone, choose the satay!
The best time to visit is in the evening when satay stall vendors barbecue outdoors, around a lively and loud atmosphere of diners eating and drinking. If you can't handle the humidity, there is plenty of seating indoors, where you may be lucky to hear tunes from the band playing nightly at the centre.
Locals may say that Lau Pa Sat is not the best place to try Singaporean dishes and is overpriced and a tourist trap, but given its location, opening hours, the variety of stalls and outdoor atmosphere, I recommend putting it on your Singapore visit itinerary.
