The Latrobe Valley Maltese Festa on 17 February 2018 from 10am to 4pm will give you a little taste of the Mediterranean in Morwell. A gold coin donation for fundraising will be the cost at Kernot Hall, 50-70 Princes Dr, Morwell. Celebrating the traditional food and culture of Malta, the day will be infused with Maltese entertainment, exhibitions and stalls. Try some of the festival's own specially produced wine. Live music fills the day both in and outside Kernot Hall.
Attracting over 4500 people for its first fiesta last year, this one's going to be even bigger. It's hoped the funds raised will be used in the restoration of a building earmarked to become Australia's first museum dedicated to Maltese culture. Work has already begun on collecting and restoring key pieces and many will be displayed for the first time at the fiesta. A lovingly restored replica traditional boat, an 18-foot long Maltese Luzzu, will be the hero piece of the day. Bring family, bring friends and have a fun day out enjoying the entertainment and traditional food. For updates, check the Facebook page.
