Have you tried honey cake?
Located inside the pavilion at Adelaide Farmers' Market, Lato Cakery serves up traditional Slavic honey cakes every Sunday from 9am to 1pm. Maria makes her honey cakes by hand using a very special family recipe. I had my first taste of it last Sunday, and it's definitely a must-try when you're at the market.
Maria's honey cake consists of five layers of honey and caramel cream indulgence topped with walnuts. Local ingredients such as South Australian honey, free-range eggs and Australian walnuts are used in the baking. Everything is made from scratch, and there are no preservatives, artificial colours, animal fat or gelatine.
The cakes are available either individually or in packs of four. They are delicious, but if you still have doubts, you can sample them first before buying.
Also, while you're there, be sure to check out Jamface by Poh too. Now that there's no longer a stall in the Adelaide Central Market, you can only indulge in her goodies here at the Adelaide Farmers' Market.
