Our plane was delayed and, unlike Sydney, most Coffs Harbour restaurants close early on Sunday. That we didn't expect!
We found Latitude 30 after a quick consultation with the most reliable informants--a taxi driver and google.
The restaurant feels warm and cozy. The waiting area was inviting and brightly-lit. The plush seats and cushions add a homely touch. We were greeted by a friendly waitstaff and were seated near an open balcony where we can see the marina.
The name of this cocktail caught my attention - Jimmy Chew for Jimmy Choo. A pun appreciated by shoe-lovers. Served in a tall cocktail glass mixed with raspberries and lychees shaken with Gordon Gin and pink grapefruit with a hint of rosé syrup. A very sophisticated ladies' drink.
Mains include the Cooper's beer battered pearl perch fillet served with chips, salad and garlic aioli. Very well prepared. Crunchy on the outside and delicate soft on the inside. It was that good, we ordered 2 servings.
I ordered the Chef's Special - Pan fried Mahi-Mahi with sautéed kipfler potatoes, chorizo, olives and salsa verde. The presentation was impressive. The Mahi-Mahi fillet was soft and well-cooked but I found there was too much chunky potato underneath. The salty sun-dried tomatoes, olives and chorizos further enhanced the flavor.
It didn't look much when everything was piled high, but it turned out to be a very substantial meal.
Latitude 30 is a fantastic restaurant with a good dining atmosphere and vibe. The food selections, presentations and the service are excellent.
The price is a little high, which is why most people reserve this place for celebrations or for that special someone.
I would recommend coming here for lunch and checking out the spectacular ocean views.
