Re-invent your Friday nights with Latin dancing at Reddacliff Place opposite the Treasury Casino.
If you are looking for something a little different that will get your pulse racing in more ways than one, this event is for you. This dance event has become quite an institution in Brisbane over the last several years. However, don't be surprised if you haven't heard of it, as Latin dancing is still somewhat of an underground movement in Brisbane. Intrigued? I certainly was.
Learning to dance is made fun and easy in a relaxed atmosphere.
Every Friday night people let their hair down, put on their dancing shoes and move their bodies to the Latin rhythms of salsa, samba, merengue and bachata - just to name a few. If you have always wanted to learn how to dance this is a great introduction to the world of Latin dancing. Or perhaps, you are already a pro looking for a new venue to bust a few moves. For me personally, it was a great way to start a new hobby, and as a result has paved the way for many entertaining nights out. Whatever your reason there is something for everyone so there is no need to feel shy about your dancing skills - or lack thereof. Novices and experts are welcome.
The instructor teaches you a series of steps and sequences in an informal, free lesson.
With a free, informal group lesson from about 8pm (they usually start a little late) you are equipped with some essential dance combinations. Then from 8:30pm until 11pm you are given the chance to show off your new-found moves to the very sexy Latin tunes put together by DJ Latin Flavour. The beats that are played vary; so you have the chance to try out all dance styles and rhythms. Trust me when I say there is never a dull moment. Something about Latin dancing under the stars makes you forget your inhibitions and therefore you will remember to enjoy yourself. You can't help but be swept away by the music and laughter that comes with the experience.
You will never be short of a dancing partner with so many enthusiastic people taking part in this activity.
You really don't need to worry about your dance skill level as everyone is way too busy having fun. There are people of all ages and dancing abilities who come together for an entertaining evening. This event is a great way to socialise with your friends in a comfortable and relaxed yet engaging atmosphere. However, you might discover like I did that engaging in this great activity is also a fantastic way to make new friends. Whilst dancing the evening away you will probably find that you might need something to quench your thirst or a few moments to rest your feet. If this is the case you can lounge in The Coffee Club or the Shingle Inn which are right next door. So rather than going to your usual bar or club this Friday night why don't you try something a little different and find out more about one of Brisbane's best kept secrets.
Who knows, I might see you there.
Sipping on a delicious beverage gives you a chance to rest your toes for a few minutes and soak up the atmosphere.
