With a birthday falling in the middle of "mad-March", the people who willingly catch up with me at any time of year become suspiciously busy. However, with the Rhino Room's Late Show, starting at 11pm, I can usually guarantee a small group to help celebrate.
Now in it's eighth year, the show is a fantastic way to sample comedy for a very reasonable price. In fact, tickets are $25 or less or just $15 on cheap Tuesdays. The line-up is never announced, but previous years have featured Wil Anderson, Sam Simmons, Ross Noble, Charlie Pickering, Stephen K. Amos, and Tom Gleeson.
Rhino Room's Late Show is held upstairs and the building itself is at 13 Frome Road. There is always a relaxed, intimate atmosphere and generally the audience seems to welcome and be forgiving of new comedians. Drink specials here are quite good, usually featuring something that comes in a bucket. No, not like a glorified version of a fishbowl; more like four beers, ciders or cruisers on a bed of ice, which saves you getting up for a drink and missing part of the show.
These people really have thought of everything. The only thing you have to worry about is how you're getting home.
