Take a break on the long weekend
A lazy long weekend, for the Queens Birthday, is looming in Perth and if you're looking for a few last minute ideas, here are some suggestions.

The AFL Grand Final is on on Saturday and as The Fremantle Dockers are playing (and winning) Fremantle has loads of stuff planned. The City centre is closed to traffic until 6pm, big screens on the Cappuccino Strip and in Kings Square will make watching the game fun and exciting, its a family friendly venue too.

Try a Pavlova Cocktail at Benny's Bar snd Cafe , a purple vodka-based drink, topped with meringue, is the current drink of choice. Clancy's Fish Pub and Gino's Cafe have big screens set up to watch the game.

The Norfolk Hotel and the Sail and Anchor will be marking the day will a big Aussie Barbecue.

Most of the pubs and clubs in the Fremantle area are having celebrations so get on down to Fremantle for a fun day.

The annual Perth Royal Show is on this week, offering all the usual fun and games. Side show alley, rides, carnival food, displays, exhibitions, animals, entertainment, and loads more, there is something for everyone. The Royal Show is always loads of fun, for kids of all ages.

The Universal Bar in Northbridge is offering several Queen's Birthday Long Weekend meal deals. Choose from Pizza and a Pint for $10.00, Steak or Chicken Parmi and a Pint for $15.00, plus entertainment and live music all weekend.

Adventure World in Bibra Lake has just re-opened for the season. It's open 7 days a week during the school holidays, from 10am till 5pm, and has loads of fun rides and attractions, including some new ones.

Over at Coventry Village in Morley, there will be a fantastic three day Mardi Gras. There will be carnival style entertainment, flame performances, live jazz music, drummers, snake shows, magician acts, clowns, stilt walkers and much more.

The popular Fremantle Markets will be open all Long Weekend, and so will the E-Shed Markets. Pop down to Freo for a little relaxation, grab a coffee or lunch and wander the markets looking for a bargain.

Visit Kings Park and have a picnic, or take a trip to a wildlife park such as Caversham Wildlife Park, Cohuna Wildlife Park, or the ever popular Perth Zoo.

Most Shopping Centres are open on the Long Weekend so you can get in a spot or retail therapy or maybe start your Christmas Shopping early.

Movie Theatres, such as Hoyts, are open on the Long Weekend. Take in a new movie, such as R.I.P.D., Red 2, Now You See Me or Riddick or take the kids along to see Smurfs 2, Turbo or Planes.

These are just a few suggestions for this upcoming Long Weekend. Of course you could just take it easy at home, but if your looking for something to do, there's plenty out there.
