Food, Music and Arts combine for a great evening
Last Friday in North Adelaide is the brainchild of internationally renowned artist and North Adelaide business owner Emma Hack. Emma, and the North Adelaide Precinct Association have arranged for businesses in O'Connell Street, Melbourne Street and surrounding quarters to partner on the last Friday evening of every month during 2015 with locally-based arts organisations, musicians and individual artists to create a monthly "Art, Fashion and Eat Trail" for visitors to follow.
The inaugural Last Friday in North Adelaide is scheduled on February 27th from 4pm to 8pm. Over 95 local retailers have registered to participate in this event which is expected to be huge. The Official Launch of Last Friday, by the Honourable Lord Mayor Martin Haese, will be held at the entrance of the North Adelaide Village at 5.30pm on February 27th.
This event is designed to allow visitors to explore the outer surrounding streets of North Adelaide as well as harness them to the main streets. Buskers and other musical entertainment will be strategically placed throughout the precinct with visitors encouraged to travel either on foot, pedal or via the existing free bus service, visiting each stop for a unique artistic, shopping and/or culinary experience. The event will be held in conjunction with the hugely popular Street Eat in North Adelaide, thus providing visitors with an opportunity to experience small tasting serves from most cafes and restaurants in the area.

Special events on the inaugural Last Friday include the painting of the fence alongside the former Le Cornu Site, a Robot Head workshop and parade, and the environmentally friendly EcoCaddy service.
Anyone who knows O'Connell Street will be familiar with the fence along the old Le Cornu site. The Makris Group and the Adelaide City Council has come on board for the inaugural event, giving permission to reimagine this fence in a 'paint by numbers' technique, which will be designed by Emma Hack and applied by the whole community. This is a great opportunity to bring your whole family to North Adelaide to help beautify this part of the neighbourhood from 4pm-8pm.
Meanwhile, and also for families, there will be a build your own Robot Head workshop and parade at the North Adelaide Village. Boxwars (last seen at Womadelaide) have been enlisted by the North Adelaide Village to create 'Robot costumes' for children in the centre. The children will then participate in a 'Robot Parade' around the surrounding streets, before returning to the centre.
Not to be left out, the Melbourne Street traders are also offering food and fashion during the evening. Of special note is Intimode Boutique who are offering 50% off their summer fashion clothes on this last official Friday of Summer.
